The Christmas spirit is still going strong here at Love Popcorn with another Christmas review for you, this time we’re looking at another Netflix original, Let it Snow.

It’s Christmas Eve, and a small rural town in America is hit by a snow storm. Whilst the adults are all probably using the snow as a perfect excuse to stay indoors and not bother with the outside world, the teenagers are still out and about, and planning a kick ass Christmas Eve party.

Narrated by a tinfoil-hat wearing Joan Cusack and featuring a who’s who ensemble cast of young up-and-coming talent, Let It Snow teaches lessons about love, friendship and family. Think Love Actually for teens and young adults.

On the surface, this film seems to lack the same depth and insight as Love Actually but that may be because it is marketed to a slightly younger demographic (as much as I might like to deny it, I am getting older!). Stories that seem, to me, to be trivial somewhat predictable and a little ‘fluffy’ may actually resonate strongly with some and so for that, shouldn’t be underestimated.

Talking about a target demographic, the casting department have managed to ram this film chock-full of Teen Choice-esque talent; from Sabrina the Teenage Witch (Kiernan Shipka) to Isabela Merced (Dora the Explorer) to two, yes two, Spider-Man alumni (Shamiek Moore – Into the Spider-Verse and Jacob Batalon – Homecoming and Far From Home).

Don’t get me wrong though, there is no reason why viewers of any age will not be able to enjoy this film, with a bitesize run time of a little over ninety minutes this is a great feel-good watch to help get you into the Christmas spirit.

So grab a blanket, a bowl of popcorn and just chill.
