About Me… Blogs I Follow (Jan 2019)

My blog has been live for almost two months now and one of the main things I have learnt is that the support of other bloggers is invaluable. Whether it’s getting feedback, learning something new or discovering ideas for new blog posts, other bloggers and their sites are not the competition but, rather, kindred spirits.

Every like, comment or share notification I get gives me an immense feeling of satisfaction. I’ve put a little bit of myself out there for the world to see and people are responding, and that is a wonderful feeling.

So, in order to repay the favour in whatever small way I can, I want to introduce you to some of the blogs that I have started following in the last two months, with links to their websites and some of my favourite posts.

Oh! That Film Blog

A fellow movie blogger whose site was one of the first I found when I was thinking about starting my own blog, and what was supposed to be a quick look for research purposes turned into a solid hour just reading review after review after review. Her posts are fun, well-written and full of personality.

NS Ford

NS Ford was one of the first followers I had, and without meaning to, she persuaded me to finally join the masses and create my own Twitter account. Her blog has rekindled my passion for reading and provided me with some much needed inspiration.

Keith & The Movies

This blog does exactly what it says on the tin, it is a site about movies written by a man named Keith. He has a wide interest in movies and is opinionated but fair in his reviews. His response to and opinion of the 2019 Oscar nominations was what made me follow his blog and his Twitter.

Paperback Adventures

I’ve not been following this blog for long but I was really drawn to it as she not only talks about books but also addresses mental health. This is such an important topic and seeing someone talking about it so freely is fantastic. Her passionate post on whether audiobooks count as reading is what clinched it for me. Very sensitively written.

Scared Silly

Like me, Scared Silly is a fairly new movie blog predominantly focusing on, you guessed it, horror flicks. Her post on Yorgos Lanthimos’ ‘The Lobster’ had me intrigued but also running for the hills.

Gimme Some Oven

As the name suggests ‘Gimme Some Oven’ is predominantly a food blog but includes travel and little windows into her life. I’ve tried several of her recipes and they have all been delicious, her Fried Rice recipe is, dare I say it, just as good as the local Chinese!! One thing to be aware of though, is that her measurements are American so you will need to do some converting if, like me, you are from the UK.

MakeItUltra Psychology

I have a little bit of a fascination with psychology so this blog is perfect for me and it’s written by a bonafide doctor. Whether you want a little insight into psychology or self-help & mindfulness tips then take a look at this site.
