About Me… Best Day Ever!

As you may know, I took a mini hiatus at the beginning of this month, partly because we had a couple of trips planned but mainly because Mark and I, after eight years of dating, finally tied the knot. That’s right, I’m now a Mrs!!

I wasn’t going to write a post about our day, partly because I’m not a lifestyle blogger, but I decided that we had enough film/TV inspired elements that it fits in quite nicely with the overall scope of Love Popcorn. Plus it’s a great excuse to shout it from the rooftops.

Music

Of the four music choices we had to make for our ceremony, three of the pieces were inspired by or taken from film.

Sitting Down – for the first piece of music which, played whilst our guests were taking their seats, was originally going to be the ‘Reigns of Castermere’ (GoT) but we ultimately decided that, as cool as it may have been, it was a little morbid and may not set the right tone for the beginning of our marriage. Therefore, we opted for the much more cheerful and utterly beautiful ‘Married Life’ taken from the emotional rollercoaster that is the opening of the Pixar film, Up.

Walking In – This was an easy choice although the film reference is a little cringe worthy. The song we chose for me to make my big entrance was ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perry, which was used for Edward and Bella’s wedding scene in Twilight: Breaking Dawn (Part 1).

Fun Fact: I totally messed up my walk and practically flew down the aisle, so we didn’t get to listen to much of this one.

Walking Out – In order to celebrate our newfound status as a married couple, we picked the toe-tapping feel good opening song from Guardians of the Galaxy to walk out to – ‘Come And Get Your Love’ by Redbone. I think Star-Lord would’ve approved.

Reception

Now there may not have been any popcorn in sight but we did offer the other cinema staple to our guests – a fully stocked Pick ‘N’ Mix which, as you can probably imagine, went down super well.

Sweet Shop - Yummy

Our cake and guestbook matched our music and took inspiration from Up with super cute Carl & Ellie chairs acting as the topper on our two tier Lemon and Red Velvet cake, and an ‘Our Greatest Adventure’ scrapbook for our guests to write their well wishes. We also asked them to suggest some places to visit during our marriage.

Little Extras

Mark and his Best Man, Steve, were also sporting a couple of little nods with their cuff links. Steve had a pair of Millennium Falcon cuff links that we bought back from Disneyland Paris a few days before the wedding. Mark opted for a pair of super cool Peaky Blinder cufflinks to wear on the day.

My best friend, Bobbie, would be horrified that they didn’t match but Mark and Steve were happy so it was all good in the end.

And there you have it, my wonderful followers, a little insight into the day I married my soul mate. Now enough with all this soppy crap, Netflix is calling.

Congratulations! You look stunning and I’m so glad you had a wonderful day. I also love the little nods to Up in your day, especially the cake topper! I also messed up the walk down the aisle too – I was so nervous I pretty much flew down it so we only heard the first few notes of the song 😂🤦🏻‍♂️ x

Haha that’s exactly what I did. I started crying and didn’t like the idea people taking photos of me ugly crying, so I pegged it 🙂 luckily in the right direction!
