Top Ten… Game to Film Adaptations

Everyone knows that film adaptations of books can be a bit hit and miss, but when an adaptation of a video game is announced there is typically an overwhelming sense of nervousness because more often than not, game adaptations are not received well by critics and audiences alike.

Almost like the morbid curiosity that we feel when driving past a car accident, there is something magnetic and intriguing about the overall ‘badness’ of these adaptations that keeps us coming back for more, stemming sequels, franchises and remakes alike.

Therefore in this post I want to share with you my ten favourite game-to-film adaptations. Enjoy!

Nice to see Warcraft on this list!

    1. Kirsty T says:

I loved it although the hubby wasn’t a fan lol

  2. A lot of people seemed to dislike Need for Speed, but I thought it was great. I love Aaron Paul, but I think all of the actors did a great job of creating likable characters. I feel like it focused as much on the stories of the characters as it did on the cars, which kept me engaged with the story. It was a great, feel good movie that I enjoyed a heck of a lot!

I gotta say, I always have fun watching Doom. Dumb, silly, and over-the-top without question. But it’s such a good time. I also really like the first two-thirds of Assassin’s Creed. It unfortunately flies off the rails in the last act.

    1. Kirsty T says:

It’s the first person shooter scenes that I love about Doom, it was something that was so unique for me at the time.

      1. Keith says:

For sure. I’ve always thought Karl Urban was a really underrated actor.

        1. Kirsty T says:

Oh massively underrated, especially when you look at his body of work. I’m assuming you’ve seen Dredd? Probably my favourite performance of his.

          1. Keith says:

Great in Dredd. I also really liked his Lord of the Rings role (I just wish there was more of it). He was great in the Star Trek reboot as well.

          2. Kirsty T says:

Liked him in R.E.D and Thor: Ragnarok and he is the best the about The Boys. Just a brilliant actor. I might have to do a top ten Karl Urban appreciation post now lol

          3. Keith says:

Oh yes! I forgot about RED
