About Me… An A-Z

I have put together a couple of ‘About Me’ posts now, where you can get to know a little more about me (funny that!) but usually they have a movie theme to them. This one is a little different, a little more random, a little more me.

Thank you to Espressococo and Paperback Adventures for the idea.

A is for Auditing.

As cool as it would be, blogging is not how I pay my bills, instead I have a slightly less interesting job as an auditor. As much as I quite enjoy writing reports all day, it is nice to get home and let the creative juices flow.

B is for Black & White.

I’m not very good at it but I enjoy photography, in particular black & white photography. I think it has a timeless quality that you just don’t get with colour photos. Here are a couple of my favourites.

C is for Chinese Food.

I absolutely love Chinese food! Mark will probably tell you that I love Chinese food more than I love him, which is obviously not true but it’s up there!!

D is for Dancing.

Who doesn’t love a good boogie?

E is for Engagement.

Three years ago; on a trip to London, in the middle of Westminster Bridge, Mark got down on one knee and proposed. A day I’ll never forget.

F is for the Floor

I have a pretty strange habit of sitting on the floor a lot, I just find it super comfy. When watching a film at home, I’ll start out on the sofa but by the end of the film, I’m there on the floor.

G is for Guilty Crush.

We all have them, crushes that are a little out there, ones that you are slightly embarrassed to admit you have. Don’t we? It can’t be just me….?! Any who, mine is Graham Norton. I can’t explain it, but I’ve had a crush on him ever since I was a teenager.

H is for Holidays

Who doesn’t love a good holiday? For the first six years of our relationship, we did a lot of UK mini-breaks and holidays. Something I think us Brits should do more of. Last year, we finally got our passports sorted and went to Amsterdam and Rome. This year we’re heading to the Norwegian Fjords and Disneyland Paris.

I is for Insecurity.

For the most part, I like who I am but, like most people I’m sure, I do suffer with insecurity. Thankfully, I still push myself to do things that are outside of my comfort zone.

J is for Jamaican Me Crazy.

I love Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and my ultimate favourite is Jamaican Me Crazy. I haven’t had for ages, I don’t even know if they do it anymore but by God, it was good.

K is for Krazy

I’m not embarrassed to admit that as a teenager, I was a big Blazin’ Squad fan and Krazy was my favourite. I went to see them four times in concert and was a member of their fan club. Okay, maybe I am a little embarrassed.

L is for Luna

I was always under the impression that cats are the spawn of the devil but, seeing as our flat is too small for a dog, Mark persuaded me to get a cat. Named not after Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter but after the amazing Pixar short, La Luna.

When she is not using my legs as a scratching post, stealing my side of the bed or perched somewhere with a judgemental look on her face, she is actually super affectionate and loving. I still think cats are the spawn of Satan but I suppose that adds to their charm.

Judgy Luna

M is for Mum and Mark.

The two most influential and supportive people in my life are my mum and my fiancé Mark.

N is for Nicknames.

We’ve all been given nicknames at some point in our lives. My mum used to call me Krusty Crow and at school I was Hermione or Calculator Annie. My most recent nickname is ‘Anorak’, given to me by my old boss because her first impression of me was that on my days off, I’d walk around wearing a yellow, plastic anorak with a backpack to boot.

O is for Organised.

A word that is frequently used to describe me at work is organised. I love a good ‘to-do’ list and alphabetised filing system. If only my workplace organisation could transfer into my home life…!

P is for Popcorn.

I have to honest with you all…. I hate popcorn! Yes, my blog name is a lie but it fits with the theme and it sounds kinda catchy #SorryNotSorry

Q is for Quizzes.

I love a good quiz. I have a rather pretentious habit of wanting to be the most knowledgeable person in the room. Quizzes are a good way to build on this rather self-indulgent whim.

R is for Reading.

I don’t do it as often as I like but I do love settling down with a good book.

S is for Scars.

I went through my entire childhood without acquiring any identifiable scars, then when I turned twenty-two, I became a big sister. A couple of years later, I get hit in the face with a fire engine and now have a distinguishable scar on my eyebrow. A few short years after that and my cat, Luna, has added to my ever-growing collection of scars.

T is for Traditions.

Ever since I’ve been with Mark, I have become a sucker for traditions. Little milestones throughout the year that makes the ordinary that little more special.

U is for Unsociable.

One of the main reasons why I enjoy going to the cinema so much is because you have the perfect excuse not to have to make conversation. Don’t get me wrong, I can be sociable if I have to but given the choice, I would choose to lock myself away and spend time on my own or with Mark too I suppose 🙂

V is for Violin.

I do not know how to play any musical instrument but if I had to choose one, it would be the violin.

W is for Workplace Romance.

After meeting at work, Mark and I worked and lived together for 5 years before we found jobs in different places. Admittedly, it doesn’t always work out but in our case, the workplace is a great place to find love.

X is for X-Ray.

I am lucky enough to have never needed an x-ray as I have never broken any bones.

Y is for Yo-yo Diets.

As with a lot of people, I have been dieting most of my adult life. My trouble is that I am not motivated enough and I like food too much.

Z is for Zen.

I am by no means a master of yoga or meditation but I do enjoy the occasional dabble in both.

I love this – such a great way of getting to know you better! I love that you hate popcorn despite your blog name 😂 and yes for another workplace romance; my boyfriend and I met when we worked together and we’re still going strong five years later. I love knowing others who have come together because of work! Also, Luna is gorgeous! 😻
